Turkey was shaken by the earthquake disaster. On February 6, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 occurred in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş. The intensity of the earthquake that took place at 04:17 in the morning also shook the surrounding provinces. After this earthquake, a second earthquake occurred at 13.24. The magnitude of the earthquake, whose epicenter was in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş, was recorded as 7.6.

Earthquake; It caused heavy destruction in Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Şanlırurfa, Adıyaman, Malatya and Hatay.

According to the latest information, 3,432 of our citizens lost their lives. The number of injured was 21,103 . Aftershocks continue in the region. Citizens in the earthquake area are also struggling with the cold weather.

14.46: President of the AKP, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said that 3,549 of our citizens lost their age and 20 thousand 534 people were injured. “We have decided to declare a State of Emergency, based on the authority given to us by Article 119 of the Constitution, in order to ensure that the search and rescue activities and subsequent work can be carried out quickly,” Erdogan said. Erdogan stated that the period is 3 months.

14.43: CHP Chairman Kılıçdaroğlu was accompanied by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş and Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar. Kılıçdaroğlu, who received information about the search and rescue efforts in Zeray Apartment, went to Hatay from Adana after watching the work for a while.

14.28: According to the news in the newspaper Wall; In his statement, CHP Deputy Chairman Fethi Açıkel stated that there is a very serious organizational problem in Hatay, and that there are problems in reaching the search and rescue team and equipment to the wreckage area. Expressing that fuel, food, shelter and communication problems continue, Açıkel stated that the aid came in pieces and said:

“As the Konya and Niğde highway could not be kept open until the early hours of the morning, many teams came here with a delay of tens of hours. AFAD teams trying to come here from different points of Turkey could not be transferred, logistics could not be provided. The equipment of the incoming teams could not come. The hours and days ahead are critical. The voices of many citizens are coming from under the buildings. We want to reach them. Families are helpless, in silence. They are calling for loud buildings. The need for tents is very high. Health services cannot be provided because two public and private hospitals collapsed in the city. A significant part of the sick and seriously injured are sent to other provinces. Antakya’s largest city hospital became unusable. A few of the private hospitals are tilted, if not demolished.

12.40: AFAD reported that the loss of life in the earthquake disaster increased to 3,432. ” According to the information received from SAKOM, as of now, 3,432 of our citizens lost their lives in Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis and Malatya provinces, and 21,103 of our citizens were injured,” the statement said.

No citizen should have any doubt that the heaviest administrative sanctions will be imposed by our Ministry against those who engage in such opportunistic acts.”

12.25: Vice President Fuat Oktay stated that the number of casualties in the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes rose to 3,419. The number of injured was 20 thousand 534. Oktay; Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Adıyaman announced that as of 11:00, the entrance of vehicles was stopped for 48 hours, except for those who made disaster-related shipments.

10.20: The Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum said, “The process we are going through is the biggest disaster we have experienced in the last century. From the first moment of the earthquake, all our teams took action. This earthquake has affected 13.5 million of our citizens. There are 581 destroyed buildings in Gaziantep, the loss of life was 468. The earthquake directly affected 10 of our provinces in the region.

10.11: AFAD announced that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 occurred at 10.11 in Malatya’s Pütürge district. The depth of the earthquake was measured as 6.93 kilometers.

09.43:  AFAD Risk Reduction General Manager Orhan Tatar reported that 3 thousand 381 people lost their lives and 20 thousand 426 people were injured.

09.25:  It was learned that 11 people who were injured, who were brought to Istanbul from the earthquake area at night, continue to be followed up in the intensive care unit at Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital. It was learned that two of the injured were children aged 14 and 16. It was noted that the 16-year-old boy will be on dialysis. It was learned that riot police officer Servet Çelik (25) was in good condition, but was operated on by orthopedics and neurosurgery teams due to multiple fractures and trauma. On the other hand, it was also emphasized that three of the wounded were intubated, and that the hypothermic injured might need dialysis due to ‘crush syndrome’.

07.56: AFAD: After the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş province, 13 thousand 740 search and rescue personnel, 360 vehicles and 3 thousand 361 construction machines were assigned to the region. Personnel and vehicle shipments continued uninterrupted throughout the night.

According to the information on the website of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), an earthquake of 5.3 magnitude was recorded at 06:13, the epicenter of which was the Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 8.13 kilometers.

04:30: AFAD President Yunus Sezer reported that 2,921 people lost their lives and 15,834 people were injured in the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes. Sezer stated that there are requests for aid and support from 65 countries, and that when the teams of the said countries arrive, they will be transferred to the disaster area.

Regarding the search and rescue efforts, Sezer said: “243 aftershocks have occurred in the region. 30 governors and 47 district governors are working in each province and district under the coordination of our ministers in the region. There is an intense work in disaster areas at the moment with our 16,400 personnel and personnel from foreign countries. On the other hand, due to the winter conditions, we provide tents and other shelter materials for shelter needs in some way and send them to the disaster area. So far, about 65 thousand tents and tent materials have been sent to the disaster area.”
